Raymond Daniel Manczarek, Jr., known as Ray Manzarek, was an American musician, singer, song writer, producer, film director, and author, best known as a founding member and keyboardist of The Doors from 1965 to 1973.
His memoir, Light My Fire: My Life with The Doors, was published in 1998. The Poet in Exile (2001) is a novel exploring the urban legend that Jim Morrison may have faked his death. Manzarek's second novel, Snake Moon, released in April 2006, is a Civil War ghost story.

my thoughts:
i came late late to the party. first listened to The Doors in my fifties, i love song lyrics with mystery attached or included. i liked their sound.
Ray Manzarek seems to be well thought of. leaving a good reputation must comfort his family and friends.

i have always loved the doors since i 'found' them in my mid-teens (so many years ago now!) i still have all their records tucked away safe even though i can no longer listen to them!
Hard to think he is gone, so much great music and such an artist.
