Some Long Ago Saturday’s
Saturday’s are
special
they belong
to you alone
dream into it
little girl
polish your
paten leather shoes
for tomorrows
Sunday School
bobby pin curls
wing ding hair
tomorrow
teenage queen
sleep until the
sun burns a
hole in you
stumble out for
liquid coffee bean
comfort
bikini sun time
shiny banana boat
coconut oil skin
sand body
salt water face
sand dollar diving
sunburned
cool shower
fresh cloths
food, lots of food
fifty cent movie night
giggling girls
dill pickle & popcorn
coca-cola & milk duds
we watched the movies
twice
welcome the sandman
sun dried sheets
rip van - winkle
you had nothing
on me....

Such truth & joy in such simple words. Love it!!
What memories you have provided us with today.

Your poem is awesome, it brings back memories of
my teenage years. We must be around the same age
because not everyone remembers bobby pin curls and patent leather shoes. One Saturday seemed to go on
forever. You could fit so much into one day.
Now the days fly by so quickly.
hugs and blessings Sharon
Ahhh Sweet Sister...you conjure up some potent memories here!
Bobby Pin Curls made me giggle quietly...I was just going thru some photos of myself when I was younger...my mom was a big one for doing my hair in those darned curls.
Saturday nights at our house were popcorn, kool-aid, and Lawrence Welk, lol.
Till of course I was a bit older and could do the awesomeness of the things you spoke of.
Powerful mind photos you've shared through your poetry!
I loved reading this...
xoxoxo
Blessings My Holy Kindred Sister!
