~ The Universe Knows My Name ~

Entrance to South Lake Howard Nature Park
 http://leesbirdblog.files.wordpress.com/

Super Saturday has arrived.  South Lake Howard Nature park was ready for me.  The air had a definite chill with a hint of dampness.

This morning I noticed a large sparse bush with violet berry clusters.  There are several Maple looking trees which are showing a bit of warm autumn bright leaves.  A large Poinciana tree has dropped seed pods shaped like kidneys.  When you shake the pod, it rattles, I loved this “pod music”.

Walking on the west side of the path there are big Oak and  tall Pine trees.  At one place the gathered Oaks give a slight impression of a forest.  Nature surrounds me at this point, peace comforts me, fresh air energizes me.

Where I am at this point
there is not perfection
there is grace
and opportunity to
grow out from my old self
pain and disappointment
chip away the rough
unforgiving parts of my
character , those traits that
have held me back for so long

A fresh calm breeze
brushes cobwebs from my spirit
the door to tomorrow is thrown
wide open and the warm sun
shines, and my pathway is
more clear than ever before

I do not preach there will be
no pain or sorrow
rather a new found ability
to accept certain parts of
life with grace surely not my own

The universe knows my name
in the middle of this life, my life,
I can say, I am happy

Oh, what a beautiful poem, Sandi! I am studying Pema Chödrön just now. I read some things of her a few years, but now I am studying her with all my heart and soul, and your poem and this post of yours fit in with what she is saying, too. Thank you for stopping by my blog. I will leave you an answer soon, but I wanted to come here first and tell you how much you mean to me. You are such an inspiration to me. We are still in the middle of renovation, but you make me want to get back on my blog as soon as I can. I love the feel of a "diary" in your last few posts ~ very wonderful. So generous and open-hearted. Thank you! xo Kari

Those little critters are just too cute. And such a beautiful poem. Very nice. Looks like you've found a lovely place to be. I need a bit of nature about now.

This is so lovely, Sandi....I am amazed by the writing of poetry. Even when you aren't writing it, your posts have been poetic and so honest lately.

They are so appreciated.
