a black man helps
gray sky rainy day
waiting in the Walmart
parking lot suddenly
he rode through my
scope of vision
my head jerked
left to right
where did he go
this man’s face
was mashed in
from a big punch
of disease or birth
a black man
unmoving scarred legs
one twisted arm
forever hugs his chest
the other guides
his red motorized
chair
raindrops rode on
his shiny bald head
he played
driving in big circles
waiting for his
ride
presently a greasy haired man
unlocked the old rusty green jeep
the black man maneuvered
himself into the passenger seat
the black man’s driver
rode the red motorized chair
onto a small trailer he
secured for the trip home
the driver seemed resigned
to something...
his head hung wearily
over the steering wheel
a stick of white cigarette
dangled from his mouth
i hoped the chauffeur was
a friend
the slow drive leaving
Walmart brought them
to a stop, on a corner,
a young woman
with a child asleep in
a blue stroller
held a sign
she lost her job
needs money for
electric, food, and
gas for her car.....
she approached the
rusty old green jeep
with his good hand
the black man gave
her money
she bowed low
to express gratitude...

Thought possibly I should add, this is a true story. I watched this unfold. Many people are facing life from difficult circumstances.

It is usually the poorer people that give to the needy. I have noticed that through the years.
What a wonderful story Wild Magnolia.. God is good.. There are still good people that live amongst us.
Beautiful. A little ray of sunshine peeking through those clouds. Hope never disappoints.
I feel such a mix of emotions reading your story...."the meek will inherit the earth".
