Rise to Meet the Dawn

my friday afternoon walk gave me an incredible gift.
not long before dusk, branch jumping a red cedar, i saw an eastern mountain bluebird.  a brief visit, a few fleeting seconds, i was dancing happy.  sadly no picture, it’s sweet little self was quick to fly away.
my woodland walks are spiritual, i am momentarily “away from the maddening crowd”.  solitary surrounds me, i feel insulated of the daily world.  i feel the oneness of our universe.
doing research i found several American Indian tribes consider bluebirds sacred.  they are thought to “carry the sky on their backs”.
Navajo tribes have a song about the bluebird thinking them a form of the Great Spirit bringing morning.
Isn’t this simple song a great way to honor the morning?
“The Bluebird Song is sung to remind tribe members to wake at dawn and rise to greet the sun:
Bluebird said to me,
"Get up, my grandchild.
It is dawn," it said to me.”
life is good here in woods just outside of Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
i hardly notice the 100 degree temperature.  ;-}
