a little bit aging, a little bit awakening, a little bit rock and roll

Photo by me. (c) Phantom Bridge over Arkansas River

in the midst of aging, i find myself moved by deaths of people i do not know
sad for the world to go on without them
but i know it must, go on,
i have gone on after my loves
left before me
there is no choice
aware of empty places
lonesome for the flesh
and blood, walking,talking,
laughing, human be-ings
memories must sustain now
8 mm clips and sound bites
rolling in our minds
we edit, we replay, a life
what if’s
don't go there
it never changes the ending
never
acceptance smooths
panic attacks
overwhelming shrieking
pain of loss
a big lesson for me
learning how i can push
off from the shore to
float away in peace
mental muscles
work it, work it
baby
an awakening will
save your soul
a little bit aging
a little bit awakening
a little bit rock and roll
“i wrote this, it was fun.”

Beatiful writing and I can certainly identify. As we get older, and hear about death more often, our own immortality comes front and center.

Today is Arlo Guthries 100th birthday (or would have been).

I relate to much you share
sometimes I do very good
other times not to good
Guess that is a part of life,
growing and aging...

So many good, bright and true spirits have already passed beyond the fields we know, dearest Magnolia - it is hard not to be sad sometimes. I think of our old friends Tsalagi, Aloha, Nightie, Santana and my precious Cassie, and sadness washes over me like an ocean. The best way (I think) to honor them is to live life to the fullest and savor every moment we are here. Love you, kiddo, and please be well....

This is very easy to relate to. Love your travel photos of Dodge City. Looks like you are having a wonderful RV adventure. Well, if you make it as far west as Oregon, check Pendleton out. It is on the eastern boarder close to Washington and Idaho. Beautiful country. Happy travels. Connie :)
